Abstract
After receiving thousands of mails from people who never heard about GURBER before, I have decided to give a formal description of it. As you will see, GURBER is not an easy thing to understand, because it is based on a quite abstract and weird way of thinking. You do not need to take drugs though!

1. Definition

The concept GURBER was, after some inspiration from RKL, invented in december 1999 by Alexandru Csete in collaboration with Niels Bassler as a small brick in a Grand Design launched by VP7. GURBER's original purpose was to avoid year 2000 chaos around the world, that is, it was the inventors suggestion to how to prevent year 2000 chaos.
However after fullfilling it's mission between december 31st. 1999 and january 1st. 2000, GURBER turned out to be very usefull, because it had a cute way of confusing people. The inventors have decided therefore to keep on inveting new ways of implementing this interesting concept.
So the formal definition of GURBER may be the following:

GURBER is an abstract thing which:
  1. would have been able to prevent year 2000 chaos
  2. has a cute way of confusing people
  3. is effective in entertaining people for some time

Remark that 3) follows automatically from 2).
If you feel, that you have implemented GURBER in one way or another, feel free to apply for a GURBER certificate by filling out the "GURBER Certificate Application Form" which is currently NOT available. New implementations may not overlay with already existing implementation (see Classification).

2. Classification

GURBER comes in generations! Currently there are three generations available: Generation 0, I and II. The first GURBER ever was the Generation I GURBER, which actually is the original invention! Later on the inventor realized, that a previous construction fullfilled the definition of a GURBER, and because it was more primitive than GURBER I it had to be called GURBER 0.
Here follows a list of the currently available GURBER generations and a short description of them:
GURBER 0a GURBER 0b
GURBER 0
This GURBER is a self residual image of a core dump from an original brain-wave segmentation fault experienced by VP7.
GURBER I
GURBER I
This first generation GURBER was the original invention from december 1999. When it was invented, GURBER was an acronym for something, but the inventor has forgotten what it meant by the day thereafter. It was a nice name though...
GURBER II
GURBER II
This second generation GURBER is sort of hardware extension to The VP7 Way Kool Project.

If the above didn't make any sense try FOLMER.
